Valentine’s Day Phrases for Letterboards (74 sweet ideas)
Welcome to another article in my letterboard series. Letterboards are a handy way to convey dates and information in your photographs. Today, we are going to look at some Valentine’s Day Phrases for Letterboards.
If you are going to be having a Valentine’s Day photoshoot and want to include a letterboard as one of your props, this is the article for you! If you would like some other ideas on what props you can use in your Valentine’s Day session, please check out my other article Valentine’s Day Photo Props.
Even if you are not doing a Valentine’s Day photoshoot, you can use these sayings for other things as well. You can put them on Valentines that are being sent out or write it on a cake. Alternatively, you can still use them on a letterboard and include it in your Valentine’s Day decorations.
Another way to use these in photographs is flat lays. With a flat lay, you setup your letterboard with the phrase you want to use. Then, you lay it down and surround it with related Valentines items. Take a picture, and now you have an image you can use on your social media, blog, and more!
When compiling the list of different phrases, they seemed to fall naturally into one of five categories: Simple, babies and children, couples, non-English, and Puns. I divided them out so the phrase you are looking for is easy to find.
Without further ado, lets get into the different Valentine’s Day Phrases for Letterboards.
Simple can be better! Sometimes a simple message stating the holiday can be plenty for a letterboard. These work well for the flat lays I mentioned earlier. Or, if you are not sure if your theme may end up changing, you can use one of these to make sure it goes with the flow.

I live in an area that is predominantly English speaking. Thus, switching up the language on a letterboard can make for some interesting and unique images! Especially if you theme your photoshoot around a certain culture.
The phrases below are all “I love you” in seven different languages. However, you could do this with many different phrases. Or, you could include a bunch of different languages saying the same thing over and over again. I love you in eight different languages would be quite eye-catching! Just make sure your letterboard is big enough to include them all.
I included the language next to the phrase for reference.
- (Danish) Jeg elsker dig
- (French) Je vous aime
- (German) Ich liebe dich
- (Spainsh) te amo
- (Italian) Ti voglio bene
- (Irish) Is breá liom tú
- (Scottish Gaelic) Tha goal agam ort

Puns are amazingly popular for Valentine’s Day! A lot of the kid Valentines sets you see will have clever little puns and plays on words. No Valentine’s Day phrases for a letterboard list would be complete without it! You can incorporate these same puns into your photoshoot for a truly unique feel.
For example, if you want to steer from the traditional pink and red hearts for your session, you could instead try a coffee theme with a letterboard that reads “I like you a latte.” This is unique and fun!
In the phrases below, I italicized the pun word (just in case anyone thought I was really bad at spelling!). The theme opportunities are endless with these types of phrases!
- I like you a latte
- Olive you
- I love you cherry much
- I love ewe
- You are paw-some (cats or dogs)
- You’re my tweetheart (birds or Twitter)
- I toadally love you
- Bee Mine
- Stuck on you (cactus, stickers, or glue)
- We make a great pear
- I donut know what I would do without you
- Just popping in to say I love you (poppers or popcorn)
- I would knot be the same without you
- I’m on cloud 9 with you
- Take a pizza my heart
- I love you berry much (alternatively you could use bear-y)
- You light up my life
- You’re purr-fect
- You are just write (letters, pencils, or pens)
- You rule (ruler or crown)
- Puppy love
- You color my world
- I’m nuts about you (shelled nuts, peanut butter, or squirrels)
